03 April 2023 - Update 02
Keeping your supply chain moving remains of the utmost importance to us, and in light of the ongoing situation in France, A. P. Moller – Maersk would like to inform you of the relief packages we are offering to customers to minimise the impact on your supply chain.
Combined Detention, Demurrage and Storage charges for all terminals except Le Havre, who will invoice storages directly to customers, will be stopped for both imports and exports on the following days:
- March 7 and 8
- March 21 and 22
- March 27, 28, 29
- April 6 and 7
- April 13
For SPOT and Twill exports, customers will receive free amendment and cancellation of shipments from France. Amendment of shipment will be subject to re-pricing, as per usual procedure.
Customers wishing to change their shipment destination will not be charged the usual COD (change of destination) fee if the change is related to the strike situation. In this case, a new ocean freight rate will apply and any additional costs at the terminal, such as restowage, will be billed as usual.
We thank you for your trust and understanding during this time, as our teams continue to work on minimizing further disruptions to your supply chain. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your local customer experience and commercial contacts. Our teams are always available to support should you need further assistance.
15 March 2023 - Update 01
In an effort to provide maximum visibility to customers, A.P. Moller – Maersk would like to inform you of a series of national strikes happening in France. The Unions in France have confirmed a nationwide strike starting on 14 March at 06:00am and lasting until 17 March at 06:00am.
The strike action has several impacts on operations and is set to cause significant disruptions across France, both on ocean and inland flow of cargo. Major contingencies include Evelyn Maersk omission of the Port of Le Havre, with Maersk Surabaya induced as coverage, while vessels MSC Vittoria and MSC Diana are delayed, and depots are closed at the Port.
On multimodal side, all trains are cancelled at both Port of Le Havre and the Port of Fos sur Mer and containers are being stored on inland depots. Our teams are analysing the situation, redirecting cargo where possible, and looking for alternative transport options, such as truck transport as a possible alternative.
Our teams are working hard to minimise the impact on operations and continuously evaluating. If your cargo is affected by the above contingencies, your local Customer Experience representative will inform you of your shipment as your booking is updated.
We thank you for your understanding during this time and remain committed to minimising any further disruption to your supply chain. We will be keeping a close eye on developments, and should any changes occur, or further strike action be planned, we will communicate all information to you as soon as possible. As always, our teams are here to serve you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your usual contact if you have any questions.
